KRSTOVDAN

Српски

The Serbian Orthodox Church celebrates Krstovdan - Holy Cross Day, in commemoration of the first Christians who accepted the faith when Christianity was preached at the beginning. The feast is connected with Theophany and the baptism of Jesus Christ, as well as the day dedicated to St. John the Baptist who baptized Him in the Jordan river. We always celebrate Krstovdan on the eve of Theophany and belongs among the movable feasts of the Church. It is not designated on the calendar with a red letter, as opposed to Krstovdan, Feast of the Holy Cross, which we celebrate on September 27 in commemoration of the finding of the Honorable Cross on which the Lord was crucified. The rite of the Blessing of the Water is served in churches on this day.
