Patriarch Porfirije Served at St. Sava Monastery in Libertyville

His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Porfirije officiated at the Holy Hierarchical Divine Liturgy on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at Saint Sava Monastery in Libertyville.

Protopresbyter-Stavrophor Velibor Dzomic, Protopresbyter Dobrivoje Milunovic, Rev. Frs. Milos Zivkovic and Aleksandar Petrovic and Protodeacon Dragan Radic concelebrated, in the prayerful presence of the Their Graces Bishop Mitrofan of Canada and Bishop Longin of New Gracanica-Midwestern America and Bishop Kirill of Buenos Aires and South-Central America. Students of the Orthodox Theological Faculty in Libertyville sang at the  chanter's stand.

Following the Divine Liturgy, the Patriarch prayed before the relics of Saint Mardarije of Libertyville. On that occasion, Patriarch Porfirije greeted the faithful and stated:

Brothers and sisters, may God grant that through the prayers of St. Mardarije, the Orthodox faith will ignite in your hearts, as we have read in this prayer. Faith is what gives meaning to our life and faith is what leads us to fullness, and Saint Mardarije showed with his life how and in what way we should believe in God. It does not depend on the time in which we live, nor the area, that is, where we live. All people of all times are called to one thing, and that is to be holy. May the Lord grant that through the prayers of St. Mardarije and all the saints from among our people and all the saints of the Orthodox Church, we too go the path of the Gospel, which means the way of holiness, the way of love. Everything is contained in that word. Where there is love - there the Lord is! Where the Lord is - there is also love between one another and in the community!
